The Summer Is Winding Down.

Well, that's it. School starts TODAY!
The kiddos are back in class and I'm feeling sad.
I never want summer vacation to end!

We spent some glorious time on the water this weekend, in a last hoorah to summer. Kayaking, snorkeling and all around super fun day.

At least I'll have something to look back on, once the piles of homework and projects start happening. *sigh*

Summa Summa Summatiiiime

Hey Hey, y'all!
Summer is upon us.

 There's pool times.

 

And grill times.

 

and lemonade stands too!

Summer  usually makes me happy and grumpy. Happy, cuz, well...it's summa!  But grumpy cuz, yeah....summa means, 7:00 am swim practices for the kiddo. erg.
But, hey, that's ok. Wanna know why!?!?
Next week, I get to go on vacation! My super awesome and amazing boyfriend, his two kiddos and Skye and me. We are all going together! Which means, fun + relaxing + SLEEPING IN (woot woot).
It's gonna be delightful! Hooray!

Trying something new

So, thanks to pinterest.com I'm addicted to pinning recipes.
Lately, with all this heat, I've been pinning popsicle recipes.
The other day I broke down & ordered a popsicle mold to make some
homemade summer treats.

I gotta say, my first batch...not too shabby!

I used two peaches (skinned), about 10 strawberries (cut up), a handful of coconut, water, sugar and a bit of lime juice.
I wasn't really following a recipe, but the one I used as a guide mentioned dissolving the sugar in the water BEFORE pouring into your mixture. Unfortunately, I read this AFTER I poured everything together *face palm*. So the one "issue" with these ice pops...too grainy from the sugar. But they tasted really yummy & refreshing.

Next up I want to try this kind: Cookie Dough, with almond milk. Sounds yummy!

The kidlet has been home with a cold for a few days...she enjoyed the ice pops today.

In other news...
Our dog Happy rarely gets let out in our front yard. We stick to letting her roam the backyard due to the fact that she's crazy and will try & murder any poor woodland creature that crosses her path. The backyard is totally fenced but the front yard has gates with gaps that she can slip out of. So, she's mostly in the back. But today we let her out to explore the front porch and it was pretty cute <3

As murderous as she is, I can't resist that face!!

Speech Bubble Chalkboards!

I'm SO excited!!
I posted on facebook a few weeks ago about wanting one of those
chalkboard speech bubbles I have been seeing everywhere.
The place I was going to order from was sold out & I was a tad disappointed.
Then...my friend Mark told me to not buy one,
he could totally make me one!
I was like "NO WAY! Really?"
And he was like, "um yeah...they're not that hard, duh!"
And then I was like, "ok...make me one punkass!"
And so he did :D

Actually he made me two!
He sent me pics documenting the progress...

How cool is that!??!
He did a fine job! I love them very much!

They have cool little knobs on the back for holding too!
I'm gonna use these babies a lot!!
