Homemade Valentines

So the kid stayed home sick (again, sigh) today.
When I got home from work we decided to make some
handmade Valentines. We haven't had the craft box(es) out in awhile!!

We raided my Mom's box of buttons that she's had since before I was born!!

We used rubber stamps, buttons, markers, paper and GLITTER!!!

Happy supervised

She was really disappointed that out of everything on the counter, none of it was edible!

The kid's first Valentine needed lots of tiny little hearts :)

It was a 3D Heart Tree! She thought of it and made it ...all by herself!
She amazes me every single day!!

2nd Raddest Valentine on the Planet!! (the Kid's)

My hand started hurting from trying to get the craft glue out of the bottle, so I got
lazy & used Elmers Glue. Then like an idiot, I lightly dusted my Valenitne with shimmer glitter. Well, the Elmers glue wasn't dry and the glitter stuck to it in all the wrong places and made my cute Valentine ugly :(

I tried to fix it by adding more glue & glitter (lolz) but I just made it worse (go figure).

But I think it is so cute, so I'm going to make it again :)
We had so much fun...

Look at them all together! Ooohhhhh, aaaahhhhhh :P

After we cleaned up we made dinner and watched Whip It...now we both wanna be Roller Derby Girls!! Yeah!!!

Beaming with pride!

My kid is awesome!
seriously.
Totally & completely AWESOME.

She has been watching some of the news on the horrible tragedies in Haiti with us this week and decided that she should start a penny/change drive at her school
to help raise money for Haiti.
She came up with this idea all by herself.
Then she asked her teacher if it would be ok to talk to the principle about her idea.
When she spoke to the principle he agreed wholeheartedly and even offered to make copies
of her fliers to send home with all the kids!
So I let her stay up late tonight and get her posters made...she did an awesome job!

Hamming it up :)

I can't believe how great she is, she has a GIANT heart.
I hope she raises a TON of Money!
LOVE HER!!

If anyone would like to donate here is the info:
Make Checks payable to: Red Cross - Haiti Relief Fund
Please add "Jupiter Academy" in the memo.
Thanks!!

I've been busy

...but not in the usual way.
I have taken a large amount of time off from all of my side work since Christmas.
I got so burned out working a regular job, being a Mom, doing Holiday stuff and then trying to keep up with all the graphic work I do on the side. I needed a break.
It's starting to trickle in again and I'm ok with that.
But for now, I'm enjoying the extra family time, catching up on TV shows, and all the other stuff that falls away when you just get too busy.

Maybe soon I can start taking pictures again...

Frosty Morning Beauty

So...the snow never came, but there was frost on the grass & cars this morning...such a pretty sight.

It was 36 degrees on the porch when I left for work this morning

Frosty Car

The grass was crunchy with all the frost & the neighbor's yard was totally white!

and the sky was a beautiful blue with wispy white clouds...so pretty!

Winter in Florida...not all that bad :)

Trying to have fun AND stay warm!

After all that ice skating we needed to warm up.
Luke made his famous delish chili and got a fire going for us.
Then we dined & ate smores by the fire...t'was AWESOME!

Luke & Heather are the hostesses with the mostesses

Frozen smiles

The dogs were intrigued by those strange puffy white things...

Cliff likes his well done ;)

I like mine all melted and unburnt...nomz!

Skye likes to toast her graham crackers too!

I think she just liked putting things in the fire!!

I shared mine with the dogs...they love me :)

we all smelled smoky when we went to bed that night :)

The next morning we had to leave, but the kid and the dogs got in a bit of snuggle time before we went...

The long weekend is over...*sigh*
